Hello there!

We are Grant and Jennifer Anderson.

We operate Uptown Common and Shop Different.

Our handmade business, Uptown Common, started in 2019 and has lead us to participate in almost 250 art fairs and artisan markets all over the middle part of the US since then.  After noticing that there were no high quality artisan markets in our town, we started Uptown Common: The Market in 2022 and, sadly, we chose to end it in 2024. That caused us to start thinking about how to promote small, local and handcrafted businesses all the time, not just for markets, and how we can help shift shopper’s thinking from the current default to begin being aware of what quality, small, and local businesses exist right around them that may offer what they need.
