Fire Stationery - Making Snail Mail Fashionable Again

There are few things in life that compare to a handwritten note. Whether it accompanies a purchase you’ve made, is intended to celebrate a milestone (possibly with some cash inside), or a note of encouragement, receiving a handwritten note builds a bond that will rival any action one can take.

Of course, sending handwritten notes is just as impactful. But finding the right stationery can be a challenge. Yes, there’s likely a Hallmark store nearby. Or you can stop by the CVS and really make sure the recipient knows the note was an afterthought…or you can look up some local makers and truly make the impact you desire.

We first met Laura and Kristin of Fire Stationery at a market in the Indianapolis area in 2022. It isn’t often you see small businesses that specialize in stationery and the bold colors used really made their booth stand out. Fire Stationery was born out of Laura and Kristin’s lifelong love of receiving cards in the mail and was a long time hobby prior to being formed into an official business.

Like a lot of makers, Fire Stationery began by making gifts for friends and family. It wasn’t long before people began asking if they could purchase more and the idea began to grow. The idea, and company name, became much more clear on a road trip that Laura and Kristin took. They spoke extensively about the possibility of starting a business and, when a fire broke out at the house they were staying, the business name became obvious.

Each card and envelope are handmade, one at a time, in an effort to create the perfectly themes set for any occasion. The envelopes are lined and there are embossed stamps on flat note cards for you to personalize before sending it off. When you have such nice sets to use, your motivation to send a card will quickly climb, and you will also likely look forward to doing it again.

One thing preventing people from sending a handwritten note is the idea that sharing handwriting can be intimidating. Thankfully, Laura and Kristin offer a service where they will write the card for you, and still allow you to receive the credit! How awesome is that? In addition to that service, Fire Stationery keeps a stock of “rapid fire” sets and single cards that are ready to order in addition to offering the ability to customize orders. Finally, they will also keep track of your special occasions and automatically send you cards when they are needed, no more last minute trips to the drug store for a generic card!

Laura and Kristin love to have visitors at www.firestationery.com or on instagram @firestationery. Go take a look around and find something that gives you a reason to send some snail mail.
