Hellbound & Back Leather - gear for the modern sportsman

If you need a laptop cover, this one will stand out while standing the test of time!

Day four of leather week and we wanted to introduce you to Hellbound & Back Leather out of Illinois. I first met Founder/Owner/Leather worker Stephanie on a live sale from a supplier that we have both utilized over the years and she even visited us in Chicago back in December at a show that we have participated in multiple times.

Hellbound & Back Leather is primarily a custom shop that specializes in making items for shooting sportsman but Stephanie clearly has the skills to make a wide array of items all of which can be seen on her Instagram profile.

Hellbound & Back Leather’s bread and butter. As a sporting enthusiast and trap shooter, Stephanie knows what you need for your equipment.

As we have a constant focus on quality here at Shop Different, we have to talk about materials. Hellbound & Back Leather primarily uses vegetable-tanned leathers sourced from the United States and Italy and sews many items by hand. Machine sewing is also available to keep projects more affordable for her customers.

One of Stephanie’s most admirable qualities is her willingness to engage in time consuming repetitive work. Cutting leather into strips to make wallet exteriors (shown below), cutting fringe by hand (see the scabbard above), and the preparation of many different parts in preparation to build something is some of the work that you will see on her Instagram. Granted, all leather workers need to have some of this tenacity (I have no intention of cutting a 4-foot piece of leather into fringe as long as I’m doing leather work), but it goes beyond what most of us choose to do.

Head over to Instagram to give Hellbound & Back Leather a follow and keep up with the work that she is doing.

This wallet was made to enter into a contest and shows Stephanie’s abilities and vision. Check out her Instagram to see the inside of the wallet.
