IKR Woodworks - Quality and Style Built into Every Piece
We first met Ismael, the owner of IKR Woodworks, in Westfield, IN at a show where his work, friendly demeanor, and amazing materials, immediately got our attention. It isn’t common to see cutting boards and charcuterie boards made of exotic woods like burled walnut or birdseye maple which was a large draw at the show.
IKR Woodworks first started when Ismael felt the desire to make some gifts for family and friends which became people asking him to make custom items that they could purchase. IKR now focuses on cutting boards and other food and beverage based items.
Being a small producer, like most of the companies featured on Shop Different, quality is a focus and typically exceeds that of the large companies. Any item leaving the IKR shop has been physically made and inspected by Ismael. Working with natural products can cause some material to have defects that simply can’t be used for high quality work and these are thrown out instead of being produced into an item.
One of IKR’s most popular items are their medium charcuterie board. While on the surface this can seem like an easy product, there is a lot of work in finding the perfect piece of wood while having a vision on how the board will turn out. These boards are all one of a kind and cost between $100 and $200 depending on the species of wood and final design.
