Jenna Smith Originals - A Lifetime of Artistic Pursuits
Ask an artist about their journey and you will find that you are buying decades of experience, trial and error, and skill-honing every time you purchase a piece. Jenna Smith is no different. Jenna showed a level of creativity as a toddler and was encouraged by her family to continue pursuing what naturally brought her joy, allowing her the freedom to explore and refine how art spoke to her.
Jenna adjusted her focus to photography as a high schooler, capturing interesting pictures from family travels that were intended to escape the cold and dreary midwest. Capturing the landscapes and details of the southern United States was just the beginning as hours were then spent editing the photographs to highlight the best features, time that was spent only for personal enjoyment.
Following high school, Jenna attended Purdue University where she earned a degree in Computer Graphics Technology (along with a minor in Art & Design) and began working as a graphic designer, first for Purdue then for Goodwill of Central and Southern Indiana. When Jenna and her husband had their daughter in 2019, the decision was made for Jenna to be a stay-at-home mom while pursuing art as a freelance artist and designer. Over time, her product line has expanded and will continue to do so with plans currently underway to launch a fabric line late in 2024.
Today, you can find Jenna at markets around central Indiana and, of course, online both at her own website as well as Etsy where you can purchase her work. Some of our favorites are the Cardinal linocut (seen at the top of the article) and the Stonehenge linocut (below).
